The Vacation Relaxation Myth, Why Adventure Vacations are Better

Of course, the allure of sitting on a beach or next to a pool sipping cocktails with little umbrellas in them is appealing. But really is that what life is about? Is that the story you want to return to the office with from your exotic vacation abroad? How much of that vacation will you remember?

What about returning to work telling stories of horseback rides to secret waterfalls, scuba diving on coral reefs, or catching some waves during a surf lesson? Which of these will engage your co-workers? Which of these vacation stories will you tell your grandkids?

You clicked on this article probably not to answer a bunch of questions, no worries, they are rhetorical. There is a myth that surrounds the tourism industry that vacationers want a vacation to relax and to be catered to like infants at an adult daycare. They want you to think like this. Spending your hard-earned money packed into an all-inclusive resort vacation package. Doing tours that they approve and have partnerships with. As far as telling guests that leaving the resort is dangerous and highly discouraged. So that you return home not really getting to know the culture, the people, and really doing much of anything except getting your towels down on the lounge chair before sunrise in the best spot by the pool.

What if you had an alternative? What if there was a vacation that showed you the beauty of country through adventuring through off-the-beaten-path locations? Getting to try local cuisine, meeting the locals and adventuring with them? Remember these are rhetorical questions.
